Sunan Jiang is the Minister Counsellor for Science & Technology at Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom. To uphold and strength the Sino-British scientific and technological partnership, he participated and spoke in various events, including the UK-China Innovation Showcase in Shanghai, The 8th Meeting of China-UK Joint Commission on Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation, as well as The 2016 Pujiang Innovation Forum. Prior to his current role, he was the Deputy Director of Personnel Department at Ministry of Science and Technology.

The building was originally constructed in 1785, co-designed by Robert Adam and his brother James Adam, two famed British architects. Ever since the government of Qing Dynasty established a diplomatic mission in the UK, 49 Portland Place had been the premises of the Chinese Legation and Chinese Embassy.
