Sir John Hood
Sir John Hood is a New Zealand businessman and administrator who graduated as a Rhodes Scholar from the University of Oxford. He then became the Vice-Chancellor of the university from 2004 to 2009. In 2007, he received the World Class New Zealand supreme award from New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark to honour his contribution of profiling New Zealand internationally. In December 2011, Sir John Hood became the Chairman of Rhodes Trustees.
The Rhodes Trust is an educational charity that supports selected scholars to study at the University of Oxford. The scholarship programme was established to promote civic-minded leadership among young people with a “moral force of character and instincts to lead”.
