The Sino British Summit has today announced the launch of its latest initiative to prepare young leaders for a rapidly-evolving world as directors unveiled the new Get AHead programme which aims to familiarise young leaders from the UK with China’s unique cultural, policy and business environments.
The programme will see a select group of young political and policy leaders from across the UK travel to China on an official visit funded and arranged by the Sino British Summit and will include business and political briefings, cultural excursions, and meetings with representatives from a range of different sectors, taking place over the course of a week in early December.
Sino British Summit Director of Government Relations, Hugh Findlay, said “This new programme marks yet another way in which the Sino British Summit has been placing an emphasis on young generations as the engines of growth, both in our respective societies and in the relationship that is rapidly evolving between the UK and China.
We are excited to announce that following a number of recent developments, we have been able to launch a new initiative which will allow young people at the very forefront of politics and policy in the UK to visit China and become more familiar with doing business in new cultural and policy contexts.
Gaining a greater understanding of local cultural and policy considerations through meeting with policy generators overseas can only be a positive force in driving the sorts of constructive engagement which will be so necessary for people in both societies in the years to come, and our emphasis on young people will help us to prepare the leaders of the future for the big questions that lie ahead.”
Details of the application process have been published on the Sino British Summit’s website and across a range of its social media platforms. Potential participants from the UK between the ages of 18 and 30 who can demonstrate political or policy leadership experience can apply by submitting a CV to H.Findlay@sinobritishsummit.org by 5PM BST, Monday 6th August 2018 in order to be considered for a place on this exclusive, fully funded visit to China. Successful candidates will be invited to submit a short article about their understanding of the Sino-British political landscape and may be invited for a telephone interview to find out more about their interest in China.
