Dr Louise Liu
Dr Louise Liu is the Managing Director for The Economist Group’s business in Greater China. She looks after the group’s strategic steps in the region while building relationships with MNCs, governments, and local media. Liu was the first Chinese analyst to join The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a research affiliate of the group. She later became Deputy Director of Access China within EIU, and the division has expanded into a global team of analyst covering China’s 31 provinces and providing analysis on Chinese outbound investments. Graduating with a PhD in Economics from Uppsala University in Sweden, she spent a year as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. Her research articles have been published on Oxford Economic Papers, the China Economic Review and the China Economic Quarterly. Liu has also been a guest lecturer at New York University and Tsinghua University. She is a regular commentator on media outlets including BBC, CNBC, CNN, Financial Times and CCTV.
